Problem:

N.A.

Background:

This guides user to establish the connection for their Furuno MD-550 unit onboard with the NMEA DONGLE (NOT for AIS pilot plug).

Solution:

Please see attached circuit diagram for Furuno MD-550. On the right-hand side, you will see connection labelled as "TDX-A" and "TDX-B". "X" refers to the numerical order.

You can any of the TD sets to do the connection onboard as long as it is not in used by other hardware onboard.

Please refer to attached quickstart guide from our end for the NMEA dongle. The cable which has 'yellow' color code refers have to be connected to the 1st port of the NMEA dongle, and the other end of it to be connected into the MD-550 of "TDX-A".

Likewise for the 'green' color code cable, you will have to connect to the 2nd port of the NMEA dongle, and the other end of it to be connected into the MD-550 of "TDX-B".

Take note that "X" has to be the same number used. For example if you have connected to TD2-A, you will have to connect the other cable to TD2-B.

To know if the connection have been successfully connected, there will be a 'blue' LED light shown on the NMEA dongle itself.

Affected Systems:

- Voyager GPS Configuration Application (all versions)

- NMEA Dongle
